Our New and Improved Pack History Empty Our New and Improved Pack History

Post  Lark Sun Oct 21, 2012 6:38 pm

I would like to thank our alpha Xan for writing this. This will not be put on the first post of our WQ thread as the old history was, but we do have something else (also written by Xan) for that... (:

Their world starts in a winter of famine. Had there been no winter, there would still have been famine, plague. Disease and terror, betrayal solidified in cold blood, it was all too real. This world was that of a leaderless pack, cast aside from a peaceful country. This world was that of revenge, a scorned brother murdered for the sake of murder. Brethren, blood bonds, broken by the horror of war;
This was their world.

--

King of Krinex, The Honest Aamir, was a great wolf of his time. It is said he was a legend, that nothing like him could have existed. Yet, there was the nobility and grace of his legacy that encompassed all that he was, that in fact, made him more real than any wolf before. This was a leader of trust, of justice. In all, he was fair and righteous. So good in whole was he, that he was as it is rumored, only a myth.

So was his downfall, in fact, his own fault? Did this wise King of Krinex Mountain Range set his fate in stone? Was his generosity mistaken for favoritism? Or was it he was not so in whole as good as made out to be?

--

Lokero was perceived to be the first ruler of the Wolves of Aver Valley, yet this is not true. The pack itself, in fact, was derived from the Krinex Mountain Range, which was led by a different ruler. The eldest of his siblings, Aamir, donated half of the West Lands, a gift in sorts, when it became clear that his pack was corrupt. Perhaps this great leader knew of the inside plan of his downfall, knew of a way to spare the innocent, to keep them safe. Perhaps this was his way.

Lokero and his pregnant partner Loramine, prepared the pack. Lokero chose those only he knew he could trust, Loramine chose those she decided would be loyal. All in all, if one was chosen and wanted to go, they were to be a wolf of the Aver Valley.

However, the young and scorned brother Corro sought a different outcome. He was that whisper in the ear, that ominous wind. Yes, it was jealousy, but it had not yet manifested into rage. Only when he hadn’t been chosen did he in fact, detest his brothers. The two packs were in alliance indeed, but it was Corro who sought to end that. He, however, was not the only one.

Bitter things become of a strong sense of ambition. The second in command of Krinex feasted on this, and found the number of wolves on his side overwhelming. Now that the pack was split, those who did not support him could not protect the alpha no matter their numbers, they were too weak. The second made sure of this, and waited until the dead end of winter. Too weak to battle famine and the hope of recovery little, it was time to strike.

The wise, wide-eyed Aamir was murdered, and the second wrought his hold on the throne. However, by the time he claimed his spot, one was unaccounted for. Dashed in his brother’s blood, Corro was in Aver Valley’s territory before Krinex had a chance to stop him. He spun the tale of infidelity to his brother, and wept false tears and begged for justice. Torn by mistrust and pride, Lokero brought his wrath upon Krinex.

The honest were outnumbered by the time Aver wolves arrived, and watched in horror as the Krinex wolves they fought with were taken down, one by one. Lokero, proving stronger than the Second, brought him down in rage, vengeance. Shattered, broken, and stupefied, the remaining Krinex wolves were desperate for guidance.

Aver Valley could not provide that. They were, in fact, hurt from battle, and diminished by a few numbers. Lokero himself could not present a solution, so he led his pack away, back home. The Krinex wolves were leaderless, abandoned. That is, until Corro appeared. He called for action, the injustice preformed by Aver wolves. Confused, they countered and a bloody battle mixed with betrayal presented itself.

Yet, ultimately, war did not break out. Lokero, still feared and respected as much as Aamir was, refused to continue with the bloodshed, and broke off all ties with Krinex. The battle was stopped, and time went by in order for the wolves to recover.

However, time only hurt the wolves of the mountains, for winters were rough and the times between them were difficult. Corro’s rule was murderous and harsh, and no matter how hard the pack tried, they could not escape his terrifying rule. The latest litter of pups were not even a year old when their mother died, and the pack was diminished to Corro, the pups, and a single other male.

This was when his plan was hatched. Yes, the wolves of Krinex Mountains were not strong, but they could take out their enemies one by one, and what not a better plan than to hit them at their life source?

Loramine had mothered three litters in all of her time, and her fateful day came while she was out alone, searching for serenity outside the world of the young. Corro had appeared, and enticed the motherly female to come to his homelands, to care for the abandoned pups, or have them suffer the consequences. Finding no choice but to leave immediately, Loramine found herself with the Wolves of Krinex Mountains.

Lokero found himself in a panic. With the unprecedented disappearance of his mate, death was clearly an option, or worse. Was this another plot to make the downfall of Aver Valley inevitable? Confused and worried, Lokero ordered his Second to move the pack as he went out to search for his lost mate- he would find them should he not find her.

And So the Second, Aria, found herself moving the Pack farther east, to the Sunrise Forest. After a long while of waiting, she found herself Alpha of this new land, this ancient pack. She would lead them to safety until Lokero returned. That is, if he ever did.

Meanwhile though, in Aver Valley, there was a wolf left behind. Daughter of Lokero and Loramine, born from their second litter, was the young wolfess deemed Lark. Having been left behind during the pack’s migration, she wandered the territory, unsure what to do. What happened to her beloved pack? Why had they left her? Determined to keep Aver Valley alive, Lark found herself recruiting new wolves to the once grand pack. Lark, the Dreamer, was their new leader.

Xanthochroi was instilled with Krinex legacy before he could become their leader. The day he stumbled upon Corro harassing the last male in the pack, was the day he became alpha. The last male was killed by Corro, and in an epic battle, Corro was killed by Xan. Having deemed himself leader, Xan encountered Lokero in the search for Loramine, someone who, Xan had yet to encounter.

Lokero, smelling the rank scent of his brother’s blood, wisely left the mountains, taking Xan’s word of there was no Loramine, and protecting his own life from the white wolf’s claws. It was only after Lokero left that Xan realized that the Krinex Mountain Pack was nothing more than a yearling and an old mother who told tricky tales of the past. It was Xanthochroi, who was now the leader of a dying pack.

--

So this was their world, brought upon by the actions of a many wolves. Had the great King of Krinex started this all? In some way or another, would he end it? These three new packs with their three new leaders, would they allow for war again? Would history repeat itself?

And what would become of a world, cold and lonely, for the lost Lokero searching for love?
